About Us

The offices of World Missions, Ireland are based at 62-64 Lower Rathmines Road. The offices are contained within two Georgian style terrace houses built in the late 1830s/early 1840s.
According to the 1921 Census Edward and Sara Marsden and their 3 children were the occupants of No. 62 while William Thompson and Ellen Travers were the occupants of No. 64.
Although all four Societies now operate from the Rathmines office this was not always the case. In 1942 the Society of Missionary Children operated from 64 Lower Rathmines Road while the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and also the Society of St. Peter Apostle rented premises in Dublin City Centre. Following the appointment of a new National Director in 1982 it was decided all four Societies would be based at No. 64.
Three years later in 1985 the neighbouring premises, No. 62, came on to the property market and to allow expansion of the office space was acquired by the Pontifical Mission Societies. Both properties have undergone extensive renovation over recent years. The majority of the two buildings are made up of individual offices and work spaces with the top floor converted into living quarters and also a small oratory.
