National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer for Children in 2009 took place on Friday October 9th. The celebration encouraged Irish children to strengthen their spiritual bond with children just like them but who live in mission countries.

National Day of Prayer was first launched in 2007 and school support has grown year on year. The celebration, which is warmly supported by the Bishops of Ireland, teaches children how to pray the mission rosary through the development of child friendly resources.

Resources available to assist schools in the celebration include candles, wall posters and activity resources.

In 2009 the day of celebration was marked as October 9th, but schools were encouraged to hold a day of prayer any time during Mission Month of October if Friday 9th was unsuitable.
