Sierra Leone
The Diocese of Freetown & Bo
Recently, the Vatican Information Service announced that Pope Benedict XVI had erected the new Roman Catholic Diocese of Bo, Sierra Leone, by dividing the current archdiocese of Freetown and Bo, making it a suffragan of the metropolitan church of Freetown. He appointed Father Charles Allieu Matthew Campbell, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Freetown and Bo, as first bishop of the new diocese. The Archdiocese of Freetown remains to be ministered by Bishop Edward Tamba Charles. The following information relates to the Archdiocese of Freetown & Bo as it was in 2010.
We want to thank World Missions, Ireland for facilitating the link between us and our benefactors. We shall continue to do our best to spread the faith in accordance with the requirements of the universal church. You efforts will surely bear fruits. In the diocese of Freetown & Bo, funds were utilised in order to pay for heating, electricity, food, water, transport and accommodation. We also made allowances towards the repair of vehicles and buildings were needed. These allowances also include the purchase of school journals and materials for teaching. Within your help, our work here at St. Paul's Major Seminary would be a lot more difficult. May God richly reward all who are partners of this great programme of evangelisation.
The Diocese of Kenema
Here at St. Kizito's Pre-Major Seminary, funds given by your generous charity were used in combination with our own self-made contributions in order to continue the work of our seminary. In total, this summed up to a significant amount, most of which was used to provide food and lodging for both staff and seminarians; pay medical bills and; workers - who took care of our buildings and vehicles. Indeed without your support, the job of forming our future diocesan priests for the conference of Sierra Leone and The Gambia would have been rather impossible. Your financial support and prayers are of tremendous help to us in the area of food and medical provision, lay work, and formations.
