From an idea in January, our inaugural  charity walk/run in the Phoenix Park is almost upon us .Tempus Fugit! Put this coming Saturday , 22nd October in your diary.

Archbishop Kieran O’ Reilly will lead ‘Miles for Mission’ and His Excellency, Mr Richard Opembe, the Kenyan Ambassador to Ireland will also join in the event.

The 5 K, which is being held as part of our mission month of October celebrations, promises to be a lively affair with a large cross section of participants.

Proceeds will go towards the Love and Hope Centre for people with HIV/Aids in Nakuru, Kenya.

The centre, co founded by Franciscan Missionary Sr. Patricia Speight from Belfast, cares for the most impoverished and destitute people in Nakuru. Patricia says that funds like those provided by World Missions Ireland are vital and help ease the “constant financial strain”.

We in WMI are delighted that Archbishop Kieran is joining us and the presence of the Kenyan Ambassador is wonderful too, given the huge numbers of Irish missionaries with links to Kenya .We are hoping that our event will be a lovely occasion for people to come together, enjoy the missionary camaraderie and help raise funds for a wonderful cause as well. This event will give us time perhaps to reflect on our own ‘missionary walk in life’ and the imprint we are making .It will be a fun occasion too as missionaries have a wealth of wonderful stories and so we will raise spirits as we raise funds!Sponsorship cards are available by contacting

Remember you can alos donate on line  Just go to EVENTS and click on Miles for Mission! Thank you.

We will all assemble at the Papal Cross at 10.30 am.

A huge thank you to Musgrave’s Cash and Carry who are kindly providing the water for our event and Dublin City Council who have been extremely generous too. Also thanks to the Irish Catholic who have given us sponsorship as well.
