Children’s Day of Mission Prayer 12th October 2018

This October let's 'Grow in Love' together!

Do you want to encourage the girls and boys in your school to start thinking about the bigger picture? To motivate them to consider children across the globe, who are just like them, but have less? Then join us, and thousands of schoolchildren, on Friday 12th October for the Children’s Day of Mission Prayer. This years theme is ‘Grow in Love’. We chose the theme to help children understand the importance of giving and showing love. After all very little will flourish without it.

Since 2007, we’ve held this special day to encourage girls and boys to put their love into action by praying for all children everywhere. This year the Society of Missionary Children is on the road and will travel to Newry, Co. Down, to celebrate with schoolchildren there. However, we want to make the day as big and inclusive as possible. We’re inviting you and your pupils to be part of this empowering day – right where you are. Regardless of where you are on Friday 12th, please join us in prayer!

Last year the celebrations took place in the Cathedral of the Assumption Carlow. Over 700 children took part from schools across Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois and Wexford, who can be seen holding up art work of their families.

We’ve put together a free resource book to help you and your pupils to get the most out of the day. You may choose to celebrate in your parish church or centre, for the entire school, or just in individual classrooms. But however you celebrate the day, the most important part is to encourage children to pray for those who have less. The Children’s Day of Mission Prayer will show your pupils that actions of love can make positive impacts in the lives of others!

PS we want to see how you celebrated the day – do share your pictures and stories directly with Julie at
